OCTOBER 2010
Dear Friend,
The North Shore Health Care Foundation has worked hand-in-hand with local health care providers for 17 years. We invite you to help us continue our practical, effective local programs that improve the quality of life for all residents and visitors.
In the last few months we have given grants to ten different local agencies listed on the back of this letter.
Care Partners is well on its way to offering a palliative care program promoting quality of life, coordinated care, and companionship for those with advanced illness. We’re busy setting up a new office, a Rural Palliative Care Community Team, and education for staff and volunteers. Care Partner volunteers will offer companionship in the home beginning with a pilot program this winter. These advances are supported in part by grant funding, including a Community Service/Community Services Development Grant from the Minnesota Department of Human Services—funding made possible by matches from your memberships and donations.
We have a special fund established by community members that gives a $200 stipend to anyone traveling for cancer treatment.
Since 1993, the total of all NSHCF grants given is $397,031. It is your loyal support that makes this possible. Thank you on behalf of all who live, work or play in Cook County. Everyone benefits – we are each a little more secure just because our emergency response personnel have updated their skills - even if you personally have not had to call them yet.
Please join us for $100, $50 or $25 now to help us with our work in 2011. Your tax-deductible gift is especially important now since some people are not able to give. If you have given recently, we thank you and ask that you mention our work to a friend.
Sincerely,
The Board of Directors
